Getting Started Guide for Admins

A brief overview of the modules available to admin accounts.

Admin accounts include administrative capabilities in addition to the same features available in teacher accounts.

This article provides a brief overview of the modules available to admin accounts. Each section has embedded links for more in-depth learning on each module.

Note: Plans is available to participating districts. Contact your Otus Client Experience Partner if you are interested in adding Plans to your district!

District

When you log into an Admin account, the District module serves as the landing page. It contains tiles for each of the sites the admin account has permissions for.

The sections of the District module are as follows:

  • Sites: The sites (schools) in the district.

  • Teachers: Search the teachers in the district.

  • Students: Search the students in the district.

  • Student Groups: Create, edit, view, or delete student groups.

  • Teacher Groups: Create, edit, view, or delete teacher groups.

  • Recognitions: Create, edit, view, or delete recognitions.

❗ This is the landing page for Main Admin and Admin accounts; the landing page for Teacher accounts is different. For more information, please reference the getting started guide for Teachers.

Analytics

The Analytics module is where you can analyze the student data housed within Otus. Administrators can see the data for any classes in the sites they have permissions for.

❗ The Reports section is only available in Main Admin and Admin accounts.


Classes

The Classes module contains all of the information you need to know about your classes and students. See below for links to each of the sections of the Classes module. Administrators can see this information for any classes in the sites they have permissions for.

The sections of the Classes module are as follows:

💡 Tip: This page is also where you assign teacher-created groups and recognitions to your students.


Lessons

The Lessons module is where you can build and assign lessons to give to your students. Administrators can see assigned lessons for any classes in the sites they have permissions for.


Bookshelf

The Bookshelf module is where you can upload resources that you can then share with students or teachers. Administrators can see the bookshelf for any classes in the sites they have permissions for.


Assessments

The Assessments module is where you can create, edit, assign, and grade your assessments. Administrators can see the assigned assessments for any classes in the sites they have permissions for.

Gradebook

The Gradebook module is where you can view student grades based on assessments or standards. Administrators can see the gradebook for any classes in the sites they have permissions for.

There are two views in the gradebook:


Plans

Otus Plans allows educators to design individualized learning plans for each student and track their progress throughout the year. Administrators can see the plans for any students in the sites they have permissions for.

Blog

The Blog module allows you to provide a way for you and your students to communicate using a blog format. Administrators can see the blog for any classes in the sites they have permissions for.

The Help module will take you directly to the webpage where you can search for help articles, such as this one.
