Getting Started Guide for Teachers

A brief overview of the modules available to teachers.

This article provides a brief overview of the modules available in teacher accounts.

Each section has embedded links for more in-depth learning on each module.

The landing page of a teacher account: Home

Note - Plans is available to participating districts. Contact your Otus Client Experience Partner if you are interested in adding Plans to your district!

Select the button below to get a quick overview of each module and familiarize yourself with some of the great features that Otus has to offer for every user type!


The Home Page has two sections; the Notification Feed and the To Do list.

  • Notification feed: displays any items that a student has completed or submitted. Selecting the submitted item will open it for review.

  • To Do list: displays information regarding assigned lessons and assessments. where the students are in completing assigned lessons.

❗ This is the landing page for Teacher accounts; the landing page for Admin and Main Admin accounts is different. For more information, please reference the getting started guides for Admins and the Main Admin.


The Classes module contains all of the information you need to know about your classes and students including your rosters, class board, mailbox, and class info.

The sections of the Classes module are as follows:

💡 Tip: This page is also where you assign teacher-created groups and recognitions to your students.


The Lessons module is where you can build and assign lessons to give to your students.


The Bookshelf module is where you can upload resources that you can then share with students or teachers. 


The Assessments module is where you can create, edit, assign, and grade your assessments.

From this page, you can:

  • Create assessments.

  • Assign an assessment.

  • Grade or edit the settings of an assigned assessment by going to the Assigned Assessments section for any class.

  • View and assign assessments that have been shared with you by administrators.


The Gradebook module is where you can view student grades based on assessments or standards. The Main Administrator can see the gradebook for any class in the district.

There are two views in the gradebook:


Otus Plans allows educators to design individualized learning plans for each student and track their progress throughout the year.

The Blog module allows you to provide a way for you and your students to communicate using a blog format.


The Analytics module is where you can analyze many different types of data housed within Otus.
