Details regarding using images, video, and audio in Otus, including file size limits and acceptable file types.

There are several places where you can add images, audio, and video using our Global Attachment feature, which looks like this:

Image Details

File restrictions:

  • File size max: 30mb

  • No resolution limit

Acceptable file types:

  • gif

  • jpg

  • jpeg

  • png

Note - these details only apply to Lessons, Bookshelf Resources, Blogs, Simple Assessments, and Rubric Assessments. For Advanced Assessments, click here.


Video Details

File restrictions:

  • File size max (when uploading from device): 30mb

  • Recording length max (when added directly into Otus): 5 minutes

Acceptable file types:

  • mp4

  • mov

  • webm

If you have a video larger than 30mb, or longer than 5 minutes:

We recommend using another host such as YouTube or Google Drive. You can upload the video to either one of those sources, then provide the students with a link to the video.

  • File size max (when uploading from device): 30mb

  • Recording length max (when added directly into Otus): 5 minutes

Uploading an attachment is limited to 30MB, what other options do I have?

  • Upload to another source and share the link (such as YouTube or Google Drive). If your district uses Google to log in to Otus, you can upload the file to Google Drive (which has effectively no file size limit) and then use the Google Drive option when attaching.

  • Separate the file into two or more files smaller than 30MB each

  • If you’re using video or audio, rather than pre-record it, use the built-in video or audio recording feature in Otus, which has a 5-minute limit, rather than a 30MB limit
