Question Activities for Lessons

You can ask your students a multiple choice, true/false, or short answer question directly within a lesson.

Do you want to ask your students a question directly within a lesson? You've come to the right place! There are three question types that can be added as a lesson activity.

💡 Tip: When creating an "Add Question" activity, the question icon (seen below) will automatically represent the activity tile. This image cannot be customized.


Multiple Choice

Build the Question

  • Type the contents of the question into the empty Question field.

  • Add media by selecting one of the four media options; image, audio recording, video recording, or YouTube video.

  • Type the answer options. You can have up to 15 answer options. To add additional answer options, select the + Option button.

  • Select the ellipsis to indicate the correct answer or remove the option.

Student Completion

When the student selects the tile within the lesson, the question will appear at the top, followed by any attached media. Students will select their answer, then select Submit.

  • The student can view the results by clicking on the tile in their lesson after they've answered the question

  • The correct answer will be in green. If the student picked an incorrect answer, it will be in red. If a correct answer was not established when creating the question, the student's response will be dark blue.

❗ Once the student selects Submit, their answer becomes locked; they are not able to change their answer, and the activity is automatically marked as completed.

View the Results

Navigate to the Lessons module. In your assigned lessons, select the correct class, then select the lesson. Next, select the tile for the question.

Once you select the tile, you will see a breakdown of results.

Can students see the results of the class?

  • The student can see the results of the class by selecting the arrow on the right side of the window.

  • Students will not be able to see the names of students that selected each answer, just the number of students that selected each.


True/False

When adding a new activity, select Add Question and then choose True or False.

Build the Question

  • Type the contents of the question into the empty Question field.

  • Choose the correct answer of either True or False.

Student Completion

  • The student can view the results by clicking on the tile in their lesson after they've answered the question.

Short Answer

When adding a new activity, select Add Question and then choose Short Answer.

Build the Question

  • Type the contents of the question into the empty Question field.

  • Add media by selecting one of the four media options; image, audio recording, video recording, or YouTube video.

Student Completion

  • When the student selects the tile within the lesson, the question will appear at the top, followed by any attached media.

  • Students will type into the response area (1000 character limit).

  • When they are finished, they will hit submit.

  • The student can view their answer by clicking on the tile in their lesson after they've answered the question.

❗ Once the student selects Submit, their answer becomes locked; they are not able to change their answer, and the activity is automatically marked as completed.

View the Results

Navigate to the Lessons module. In your assigned lessons, select the correct class, then select the lesson. Next, select the tile for the question.

Once you select the tile, you will see a breakdown of results.

  • To see a student's full response, select their response.

  • The student can see the results of the class by selecting the arrow on the right side of the window.

What are the three types of questions that can be added as a lesson activity?

Multiple Choice, True/False, and Short Answer.

Can students see the answers from other students?

Yes, students can see the results of the class by selecting the arrow on the right side of the window. On multiple choice and true false, However, they can only see the number of students who selected each answer, not the names of individual students. For short answer, they can see the names of the students and what the answered.

Can I turn the ability for students to see each other's answers off?

At this time, this setting can't be adjusted. To add your vote to the feature request to hide answers in questions, click here.

If I unassign a lesson, are the results of the questions erased?

Yes; be sure to unassign with caution, or take a screenshot of the results before you unassign.
