The AI Insights Module is a full-page AI experience in Otus, designed to help teachers and administrators quickly find answers, uncover trends, and turn data into action. Accessible directly from the left-hand navigation bar, the AI Insights Module brings the power of AI to your Otus account in one dedicated space. Instead of navigating between pages to piece together data, AI Insights lets you ask questions in plain language and get instant, data-driven results right on one page.

💡 Who is this for? Teachers use the Insights Module to explore class performance and identify students who need support. Administrators use it to compare student groups, uncover district-wide trends, and plan next steps without navigating away from a single page.

Reminder: AI Insights is a powerful tool, but AI can make mistakes. Always review responses carefully, rely on your professional expertise, and trust your judgment before taking action.

Each chat is automatically given a title so you can easily find it again later.

🛠️ How It Works

Getting started with AI Insights is simple. No setup is required; just navigate to the module and start asking questions.

Starting a New Chat

Step 1: Click AI Insights in the left-hand navigation bar.

Step 2: Click New Chat to begin a fresh conversation.

Step 3: Click into the bar that reads "Ask a question to get started," type your question or prompt, and press Enter or click the paper airplane icon.

Step 4: AI Insights will generate a response and automatically title the chat, so you can return to it at any time.

💡 Pro-Tip: The "Context + Task" Formula

To write your own custom prompts, follow this simple structure:

  1. Context: Tell the AI what data to look at (Looking at the Unit 3 Test).

  2. Task: What do you want it to do? (Identify three most difficult questions).

  3. Format: How should it be delivered? (and provide them in a table).

Working Within a Chat

  • Ask follow-up questions or start an entirely new line of inquiry within the same chat.

  • Use the stop button to halt answer generation at any time.

  • Responses may appear as bar charts, pie charts, tables, or text, depending on what best fits the question.

  • Select specific students from the results and click Add to Groups to take immediate action.

  • Use the download option to export results for sharing or record-keeping.

Managing Your Chat History

  • Recent chats appear in the left-hand panel under Recents.

  • Click the expand/collapse arrow to show or hide the full list.

  • Each chat has three vertical dots. Click them to rename or delete the chat.

Copy the response details to share or save the content.

Provide feedback on accuracy and usefulness.

  • Evaluate a response as “good” or “bad” by clicking on a thumb icon.

  • Add more information about your feedback.

  • Select an adjective or type in your feedback and send.

  • Close the window if you don’t want to give more information about your feedback.

Otus Insights is a new, continuously evolving feature and relies on user feedback to improve. All feedback received is tracked and analyzed by people at Otus. Your feedback could help improve Otus Insights for all educators using it. Adding more information to your feedback using tags or text makes it even more actionable.

  • If you have general feedback or ideas for improvement, submit your thoughts using the chat window.
