Reminder: Otus Insights is an AI assistant that offers valuable support to educators, but it can make mistakes. Educators should carefully review the responses, rely on their expertise, and trust their judgment.


🎯 Purpose

Otus Insights helps you quickly analyze 3rd party assessment data, identify trends, and take action using AI-generated insights and recommendations. When you use Otus Insights AI on the 3rd Party Analytics page, it pulls data from across the platform. By connecting the dots, you turn student data into meaningful insights that fuel impactful decision-making.


💡 What is Otus Insights?

Otus Insights is an AI assistant that analyzes your 3rd party assessment data to provide summaries, trends, and actionable recommendations, helping you make informed instructional decisions faster.

  • Performance Analysis: Quickly understand student and class performance across assessments

  • Trend Identification: Compare historical and current data to spot patterns

  • Student Grouping: Create groups for differentiation or intervention

  • Custom AI Support: Ask questions and receive tailored, data-driven responses

  • Export & Share Data: Download tables and insights for reporting or collaboration


✅ Prerequisites

  • Access to the Analytics module

  • 3rd party assessment data available (non-legacy datasets only)

  • Appropriate permissions (Teacher or Administrator access)


📊 Access Insights in 3rd Party Analytics

Step 1: Click Analytics in the left-hand navigation menu.

Step 2: Select the 3rd Party tab (this is the default view).

Step 3: Click on a relevant 3rd Party assessment tile.

Note: Insights is not available for legacy datasets (PARCC, SBAC, aimsweb).

Step 4: Click the Insights button to launch Otus Insights.

  • Review the suggested prompts generated based on your data.

  • Click a prompt to generate an AI response.

  • (Optional) Type a custom question in the “Type message…” box.

  • Ask follow-up questions to refine or expand the response.

💡 Tip: Be specific in your questions to get more actionable insights.


📝 Select Prompt

3rd Party Analytics Insights dynamically generates prompts based on the specific data shown on the page, such as assessment titles, target sets, and attempts data that have been collected, etc.

Once you select a prompt, Otus Insights reviews the data from multiple sources and provides a detailed response that can include:

  • Descriptive insights

  • Summary tables with the option to download data in a CSV

  • Organized sections for easy interpretation

Step 1: Review the suggested prompts generated based on your data.

Step 2: Click a prompt to generate an AI response.

Step 3: (Optional) Type a custom question in the “Type message…” box.

Step 4: Ask follow-up questions to refine or expand the response.

Beyond example prompts, you can ask custom or follow-up questions to provide a deeper analysis of student performance and learning trends.

Enter your question in the "Type message..." box.

  • Type your new question below the example prompts.

  • Type your follow-up question beneath the AI’s response.

    • Follow-up questions can help you do things such as:

      • Refine the AI’s response according to your needs

      • Expand on a particular aspect of the response

      • Build out a plan for recommended standards-aligned activities

      • Draft an email to an audience


🟣 Create Student Groups

Otus Insights allows you to create student groups directly within the Insights feature.

Step 1: Ask a custom question about the group you want to see.

  • Example: Group students based on Spring 2019 Lexile Range.

Step 2: Select the necessary students and click Add to Groups.

Step 3: Select an existing group or type to create a new one. Then click Save.

💡Tip: More than one group can be selected at a time.

Teachers: Teachers add students to their personal teacher groups. These are represented by a fully colored circle.

Administrators: Administrators add students to district-level groups. These groups are not site-specific; they are accessible to the entire district and are represented by a semi-colored circle.

Copy the response details to share or save the content.

Provide feedback on accuracy and usefulness.

  • Evaluate a response as “good” or “bad” by clicking on a thumb icon.

  • Add more information about your feedback.

  • Select an adjective or type in your feedback and send.

  • Close the window if you don’t want to give more information about your feedback.

Why give feedback?

Otus Insights is a new, continuously evolving feature and relies on user feedback to improve. All feedback received is tracked and analyzed by people at Otus. Your feedback could help improve Otus Insights for all educators using it. Adding more information to your feedback using tags or text makes it even more actionable.

Data, Security, & Privacy

FAQ & Troubleshooting

I don't see Insights as an option in 3rd Party Analytics.

This feature is available for participating districts; not all users will have this feature enabled. If you are interested in enabling this feature, have your district administration reach out to your Otus Client Experience Partner.

Will it generate images, video, and or audio in the response?

The data generated in this report will be presented in formatted text, tables, and charts, which are able to be downloaded and copied.

Can I share data with family members?

By using the Download or Copy option, you can easily share the generated results via email or printed copy. However, to protect student privacy, ensure you only share information relevant to the intended student, not others in the class.
