Do you want to include videos in your advanced assessment? You've come to the right place!

Requirements:

  • Acceptable file types: YouTube, Vimeo, Brightcove (method 2 only), mp4
  • Maximum file size for an mp4: 100mb

There are two methods for adding a video into an Advanced Assessment:

Method 1: Using the Simple Feature:

This allows you to embed a video directly into the content of a question so that it appears along with the question. These are added using the Rich Text Toolbar, so they can appear in any question type.

  • Step 1: While composing the question in the Rich Text Toolbar, select the Simple Feature icon.
  • Step 2: Choose the video type.
  • Step 3.1: If using YouTube or Vimeo, copy and paste the URL into the Source URL field.
  • Step 3.2: If using your own video file from your device (must be an mp4), select Hosted Video, select the blue + Add button next to the Source URL field. Then, select the gray + icon and find the video on your device. It may take a few moments to upload; when it is finished uploading, select OK.
  • Step 4: Select OK to save the video.
  • Step 5: Continue adding content to the question you are building. The video will appear as a component in the question (the video will appear in full when you save the question).

What does the Poster Image mean when using your own hosted video? The poster image is what will be displayed before the video is played. It is only available when adding your own hosted video, not for YouTube or Vimeo links.

Method 2: Using the Video Player Feature

This will embed the video into the item as a stand-alone video, not necessarily embedded into a specific question. These are added using the Video Player Feature, which is found in the Features section.

  • Step 1: Select the Features section and choose Video Player.
  • Step 2: Choose the video type.
  • Step 3.1: If using YouTube, Vimeo, or Brightcove, copy and paste the URL into the Source URL field.
  • Step 3.2: If using your own video file from your device (must be an mp4), select Hosted Video, select the blue + Add button next to the Source URL field. Then, select the gray + icon and find the video on your device. It may take a few moments to upload; when it is finished uploading, select OK.
  • Step 4: Select Save.
  • Step 5: Move the video to the appropriate location in the item (optional). Since the video isn't attached to a specific question, it can be moved around within the item by dragging and dropping with the move icon shown below.
