🎯 Purpose
The Standards page shows how your student is performing on individual standards, based on the grading scale(s) their teacher uses. Instead of just seeing an overall grade, you can see performance broken down standard by standard, including how many times a standard was assessed and how recently. You can also click into any standard to see every assessment attempt tied to it, in order from most recent to oldest.
💡 Why It Matters
Standards-based data gives you a clearer, more specific picture of your student's learning than an overall grade alone. It helps you quickly spot which skills your student has mastered and which ones they're still working on, so you can support them more precisely, whether that's celebrating a strength or getting ahead of a struggle before it shows up on a report card. Next time you check in with your student, you'll have something more specific to go on.
🔑 Key Functions
See performance by standard: View every standard your student has been assessed on, along with their mastery level, number of attempts, and date.
Filter to what matters: Narrow the list by grading period or class.
Switch between grading scales: If your student's teacher uses more than one grading scale, use the tabs to move between them.
Understand how performance is calculated: Use the info button next to the grading scale to see how mastery is determined and what each level means.
Dig into the details: Click into any standard to see its full assessment history for every attempt, in order from most recent to oldest.
✏️ Access Standards Data
Step 1: From the navigation menu, select Standards.
Step 2: Use the filters (Grading Period or Class) to find a specific standard.
Step 3: Review the overall performance for each standard and click into it for more details on the attempts and assessments where that standard was assessed.
💡Tip: If your student's teacher uses more than one grading scale, use the tabs at the top to switch between them.
🧠 Understand Standards Data
1️⃣ Learn what the scale means first.
Click the info button next to the grading scale on the Standards page. This tells you how mastery is calculated, so when you see a score later, you'll know whether it's strong, borderline, or a red flag, instead of just seeing a level with no context.
2️⃣ Dig into the results.
View all standards in a class. Find the class you want to review and click View Standards. This opens a list of every standard tracked for that class, along with the student's current performance level of each.
Select a specific standard. Click any standard in the list to open its detail page. Each row shows the mastery level (like Approaching Mastery or Mastery), the number of attempts, and the date of the last attempt, giving you a quick snapshot before you dig deeper.
3️⃣ Look for a pattern, not just a single score.
On the detail page, scan the full list of attempts, including overall mastery level, assessment name, and score for each attempt. Be sure to read the standards description to know what this standard is teaching.
ℹ️ If the standard is assessed across multiple assessments, the Assessment History will list multiple assessments, not just one.
4️⃣ Put it all together.
Once you've reviewed the pattern of scores, the details of each attempt, and the standard's intent, you'll have a much clearer, more accurate picture of the student's actual progress rather than relying on a single snapshot in time.
