When students transfer to a different class throughout the school year, you can easily transfer the student's assessment data to the new class. This will ensure that the student's assigned data is represented in the correct class, in both the gradebook and report cards.

How to Transfer the Student's Assessment

Student assessment data is transferred through the Assessments View of the Gradebook.

  • Step 1: Go to the Gradebook module

  • Step 3: Choose the class the student is currently enrolled in.

  • Step 4: Click on the student's name.

  • Step 4: Click Transfer Assessments.

❗️The Transfer Assessments button is only visible if the student has assessment data available in previously rostered classes.

  • Step 5: Choose the class you want to transfer the assessments from.

  • Step 6: Select assessments to transfer.

  • Step 7: Click Transfer Assessments.

  • Step 8: Review your selections and click Transfer to confirm.

Success! The assessment data has been moved from the old class and will only be visible in the student’s current class.

How The Assessment Data is Transferred

There are three different scenarios that impact how the assessment data is handled.

Scenario 1: The matching assessment exists in the student’s current class.

If the matching assessment you’ve transferred from the student’s old class already exists in the student’s current class, the assessment data will be added to the matching assessment. On the assigned assessments page, the student will be listed alongside the other students. In the Gradebook, their data will be listed in the same column or standards attempt as the other students.

Scenario 2: The matching assessment does not exist in the student’s current class.

If the matching assessment you’ve transferred from the student’s old class does not already exist in the student’s current class, the assessment data will be added as a new assessment for just that student. This means that the student will show as the only student assigned the assessment in the assigned assessments for that class and will show in a separate column or as a separate standards attempt in the Gradebook.

Scenario 3: The student completed the assessment in both the old and current classes.

If the student took the assessment in both classes, the transfer will overwrite the existing scores in the current class. A warning message will appear before confirming the transfer.
