Before You Begin
❗ Is this your first time creating an Advanced Assessment? If so, you'll want to check out our Beginners Guide to Advanced Assessments if you haven't already. Advanced Assessments are our most powerful and intricate assessment tool, and it will be helpful to know the basics before you begin to create one! Once you've taken a look at that guide, come on back here and get started!
Have you created an item in your Advanced Assessment that you would like to duplicate? Here's how you can duplicate an item:
Step 1: While you are in the Advanced Assessment, select the item you wish to duplicate (either from the assessment builder or the Item Bank).
Step 2: Select Edit in the upper-right corner of the item.
You may be presented with a prompt to inform you that this item is currently being used on an assigned assessment, and that any changes you make to the item at this point will not be seen in the assigned version. To continue, select Okay.
Step 3: While in the item, select the dropdown arrow to the right of the blue Save button. Select Duplicate Item.
❗ Step 4: Once you've selected Duplicate Item, you are now in the duplicated item (not the original). Any edits you make from this point forward are within the duplicated item.
💡 Tip: we recommend changing the title of the item immediately after duplicating to avoid confusion between the different versions of the item. See below:
Step 5: Both the original and duplicated item will be in the My Item bank. They are considered separate items; they are not related to each other in any way (making edits to one will not impact the other).

Can you duplicate individual questions within an item?
Only entire items can be duplicated, not individual questions within each item.
Can I edit an item and questions?
Yes! Here's information on how to edit. Please note that any edits you make to the question/item will apply to all assessments that include that question, not just the particular assessment you are working on.
