The Audio Player is a feature that you can insert into your Advanced Assessment items. Features are like the "extras" you can add to your items. For more information on questions vs features, click here.

The Audio Player this will embed a pre-recorded audio file or URL into the item as a stand-alone component. If you want to record your own audio directly into the assessment, please click here.

Here is an example of what the audio player looks like within an item:

How to Add Audio to Your Advanced Assessment

💡 Tip from the Otus Team: Rather than adding an audio recording to an empty item, We recommend building the question first, then adding the audio. If you haven't built the question yet, that's ok too, you can just add it later.

➡️ The example below shows how to add an audio recording to an item that contains a multiple choice question. Audio can be added to any item at any time.

Step 1 - Add the Feature

  • While in the item you wish to add the audio to, select the + symbol to add a new feature.

  • Select the Features tab and choose the Audio Player.

Step 2: Add the Audio

  • Upload the audio by selecting the + Add icon.

  • Select the gray + icon, choose your audio file, and select OK. Note - if you want to record your own audio directly into the assessment, please click here.

Step 3: Choose Player Type, Heading, and Description (all optional)

➡️ Player Type

  • Choose how the actual audio player will display for the students.

➡️ Heading and Description

  • The heading appears similar to a title, while the description is similar to an explanation.

Step 4: Optional UI and Layout Settings

➡️ UI Settings

  • UI (user interface) settings allow you to choose certain functions available to the students.

➡️ Layout

  • You can add/remove certain elements to the layout of the audio player.

Step 5: Save

  • Select Save.

Step 6: Move

  • If the audio is not where you'd like it, you can move it to another location in the item by selecting the drag and drop icon on the right side. See the example below.
