When students complete assessments with questions linked to standards, the performance on those standards can be found in the Standards Gradebook

  • From the home screen, select Gradebook.

  • Choose a class from the dropdown menu.

  • Select the Standards tab.

➡️ Please note: Based on your district settings, your Standards gradebook tab may be on the left. In addition, not all districts choose to use the Assessments gradebook; in that case, you will only see the Standards gradebook.

Default Display

The default display of the standards gradebook is as follows:

  • All standards assessed on any assessment that has a due date that falls within the current grading period.

  • The default grading scale will be the first one in the list of available grading scales. Grading scales are listed alphabetically.

  • The default mastery setting is chosen by the district in the Main Admin account. In the above example, the default mastery setting is "Most Recent". Teachers are unable to change the default mastery setting.

❗ If you change any of the filters, those filters will "stick" when you navigate away from the gradebook. They will reset to the default when you log out.

Column Structure

Each column represents a single standard. See the image below for the details.

  • 1: Standard: Hover over the column title to view the entire standard.

  • 2: Performance Level: Determined based on the grading scale and mastery setting chosen. You can change the scale and/or mastery setting in the filters (see below for filter options).

  • 3: Number of Attempts: This is the number of times the student has been assessed on that standard. A single question on an assessment and/or a descriptor on a rubric counts as an attempt.

  • 4: Class Summary: A horizontal bar that shows the overall class performance by color. Hover over each color to see the performance level and number of students.

➡️ Standards Gradebook Override:

Do you see a dropdown arrow next to each performance level? That means your district has enabled the ability to override the standards grade. For more information, check out this resource.

Total Grade

If there is an additional column in-between the student's last name and the first standard, that means your district has Total Grade Conversion enabled. This takes the performance mean for all attempts and converts it to a total class grade. This takes the performance mean for all attempts and converts it to a total class grade. See below for an example.

❗ Please note - the Total Grade column is only available if the district has chosen to use it. If you do not see that column, that means the district does not have it enabled.

Filters

You can choose to filter the display in your standards gradebook in many ways.

  • Grading Period: Using this filter allows you to view the standards assessed in different grading periods.

  • Grading Scale: Using this filter allows you to change which grading scale is used to display the overall standard performance.

  • Mastery Setting: Using this filter allows you to change which mastery setting is used to calculate the overall standard performance.

❗ There is not a way to set a default filter for individual teachers. Default filters are set at the district level.

  • Filter Standards: Using this filter allows you to isolate individual standards and view the performance level for those standards only.

  • Filter Assessments: Using this filter allows you to isolate individual assessments and view the performance level for standards on that assessment only.

Individual Student/Standard Performance

Clicking on an individual student's performance will take you to a more detailed view of their performance level(s).

➡️ To See Standards in List View

Select an individual student's name:

  • This will take you to a list of the standards that student has been assessed on, as well as the performance level for each standard.

  • You can navigate from student-to-student by selecting the arrows. You can also choose a specific student from the dropdown option.

❗ Please note - the Total Grade at the top of the gradebook is only available if the district has chosen to use it. If you do not see a Total Grade, that means the district does not have it enabled.

➡️ To See Individual Standard Performance

  • This will take you to a more detailed view of the attempts made on that standard.

In this example, this student attempted CCSS.ELA-Literacy.$L.8.10 5 times

  • Each attempt is listed, along with the name of the assessment it occurred on, the due date (or submission date if a due date wasn't set), and the performance level.

  • You can change the Mastery Setting by clicking on the dropdown menu in the upper-right corner.

  • Hovering over a point on the graph will show the details of that attempt, including the assessment name and due date.

  • Clicking on the attempt will show you the content of the assessment question.

    • While this is always visible to the teacher, it is only visible to the family and student if Allow Multiple Attempts is turned ON for that particular assessment.

  • You can navigate from student-to-student by selecting the arrows. You can also select a specific student from the dropdown.

➡️ Understanding the Grade Calculations

  • Mean - performance is determined based on the average level they perform at.

  • Mode - performance is determined based on the level they perform at the most.

  • Most Recent - performance is determined based on the level they achieved most recently.

  • Highest - overall performance is determined based on the highest level they've achieved.

  • Decaying Average - overall performance is determined using a calculation that is based on an average with more weight given to the more recent scores.
