There are two ways you can create custom standards:

Option 1: One at a time in the Control Center

  • Recommended for when you only need to add a handful of standards

Option 2: Bulk Upload using a CSV

  • Recommended for when you have a large amount of standards
  • Will require filling out a template, of which you will send to us when completed, and we can bulk upload those standards on our end.

Continue reading for step-by-step directions for both options!

Option 1: One at a time in the Control Center

Step 1: From the Control Center, select Standards, then Create Standard

Step 2: Enter the following information

  • Standard Title
  • Subject
  • Grade (can select more than one)
  • Description - this is the body of the standard (optional)

Step 3: Link Additional Standards (optional)

  • Currently, linking an additional standard just keeps an association to a Common Core, Depth of Knowledge, NGSS, or State Standard.
  • It does not impact the data collected on the custom standard
  • There will be an update of this functionality coming soon!

Step 4: Save & Repeat

  • Click the Save button
  • Repeat with the same process with your other custom standards

You've now added custom standards to Otus!

Option 2: Bulk Upload using CSV

Step 1: Reach out to Otus Support using the Chat Feature

  • Ask for the template for a custom standards upload - a member of the team will be happy to send it to you.

Step 2: Fill out the template

  • It is important to leave all headings unchanged, as it is sent to you specifically formatted.
  • Type the Subject, Title, and Description
  • Type an 'x' into the grade level(s) that should be attached to the standard
  • The image below shows an example:

Step 3: Send the template back to us

  • Save your template with a file name that includes your district name
  • Make sure to save it as a .csv
  • Send it to support@otus.com, or you can attach it as a file and send it in the chat feature.

Step 4: Confirm the Upload

  • Once we have finished uploading the standards, we will reach back out to you, asking you to verify that all of the standards look correct

You now have custom standards added to Otus!
