Otus offers a variety of features that help ensure that the connection between home and school is strong

#1: Email Students and/or Families

  • A great way to remind students and families about important classroom events, field trips, or even less-important, but fun, news is by sending a message through Otus.

  • If you choose to send emails through Otus, responses to your e-mail will be sent directly to your email inbox, not Otus!

#2: Post an Announcement on the Class Board

  • The Class Board is accessible by anyone who uses Otus: teachers, students, families, and school leaders. Teachers are able to post pictures, announcements, videos, and more to the Class Board.

#3: Communicate Positive and/or Not-so-Positive Behaviors

  • The Recognition Points tool in Otus is similar to ClassDojo in that teachers can give students points for specific behaviors.

#4: Share Student Progress on Formative or Summative Assessments

  • Instead of having students complete a quick assessment on one platform and then entering grades in another platform, use Otus Simple Assessments to create exit tickets and other assessments quickly. Then students can complete the assessments in Otus, where they will be auto-graded by Otus, and then visible to families in the gradebook when they log into Otus.

#5: Share a True Learning Portfolio for Each Student

  • Students and teachers can easily add student blog posts, assessments, photos, videos, and more to a student portfolio that can be viewed by students, families, teachers, and school leaders. It is a great way to show student growth over time!
