Now that you've started to build an advanced assessment, you may want to add a Match List question.

In the Match List question, the student pairs associated items by dragging answers into a list.

Build the Question
If you are creating a new item, select the + Create button on the assessment builder, title the item, then select the Add New plus sign to add a question.
If you are adding to an existing item, simply select the Add New plus sign (as shown above) to add a question to the item.
Next, select the Classify, Match & Order category from the options on the left, then select Match List.
Compose Question
Compose Question: Type question prompt into this field.
Add Answer Content
Stimulus list: The static list of items that the students will refer to for matching
Possible responses: The dynamic list of responses students can choose from. Click and drag the responses into the desired order
Trash: Delete response
Add: Additional response
Group possible responses (Optional): If there are different categories of response options, check this box to add more groups:

Set Correct Answers
Setting the correct answer: Drag responses to their correct positions in the list.
When students answer, all responses must be in the correct positions for full credit. If there are multiple correct answers, see More options below.

❗ Avoid using duplicate answers. Using identical answer options will cause issues with the scoring. Instead, use the "duplicate responses" option, which allows a student to use an answer more than once.
Alternate answers: If alternate answers are acceptable (like different pairings, multiple matches, etc), click the Add ( + ) button. By default, alternates are awarded full credit, but each set of alternates can be valued at different point levels (Correct must be the highest point value):
Duplicate responses: Check this box if responses may be reused.
Show drag handle: Shows or hides handle button
Scoring
Point value: Enter the full point value for the correct answer (see More options below)
Scoring Type:
Exact match (Default): All parts of the answer must be correct to be awarded credit.
Partial Match Per Response: Each correct answer will be awarded the full credit designated in the Set correct answer(s) field. (In this example with three answers, awarding 1 point per correct answer, adding up to as many as 3 total points).
Partial Match: Each correct answer will be awarded partial, proportional credit designated by the Set correct answer(s) field. (In this example with three answers, 1/3 point per correct answer, adding up to 1 total point).
Student Preview
It's highly recommended to Preview the question before adding it to the assessment. This displays the question as the students will see it and also verifies that the answers and scoring work as expected.
Step 1: Select the Preview button to go into Preview mode.
Step 2: Answer the question with the correct answers, including alternates.
Selecting Show Answers will present the correct answers.
Step 3: Verify that the auto-score correctly calculates the point value.

Unscored/Practice usage: removes all scoring from the item.

Penalty points: use this option if you want students to lose points for giving incorrect answers. Find more information here!
Minimum score if attempted: student will receive points as long as the question has been attempted (if the question is left blank or is unanswered, the student will not earn those points).

At the very bottom of the More Options menu, you will see "Extras". These options are not applicable to Otus assessments - they do not have any impact on the questions or the assessment.
