Build an Assessment with the Item Bank

Teachers building an Advanced Assessment can search the Mastery Item Bank to find high-quality items that match their instructional goals. After selecting content, such as passages or individual questions, teachers can add items directly to their own custom assessments.

Administrator Use

Administrators can ensure consistent, standards-aligned assessment practices across classrooms by providing access to a robust pool of vetted items, reducing the variability that can come from fully teacher-created assessments.

💡 Tip: Use the Search & Filter tools to narrow items by standard, grade level, or subject. This makes it easy to find items that align directly to your current unit of instruction.


🚀 Getting Started

The Mastery Item Bank is accessible when building an Advanced Assessment in Otus. If your district does not currently have the Mastery Item Bank enabled, contact your district administration or your Client Experience Partner to request access.

Step 1: Open or create an Advanced Assessment.

Step 2: Select the Item Bank option within the assessment builder. Search and filter to find questions, passages, or item sets that match your instructional needs.

Step 3: Add items directly to your assessment.
