This article will walk you through grading the Defense of Learning rubric assessments as the primary teacher or teacher of record for your class. This process will be similar to grading any other standards-based rubric assessment in Otus.

Locate the Assigned Assessment

  • Step 1: Navigate to Assessments and choose Assigned.

  • Step 2: Choose the correct class under Classes.

  • Step 3: Find the assessment you would like to grade and select the name or status bar to open the grading view.

Adding Scores

Scores can be selected on the student list page (1) while viewing all students assigned the assessment or by choosing an individual student (2) to grade them one at a time.

Option 1: Student List

  • Select from the dropdown menu to choose a score, or use the following keyboard shortcuts:

    • Click on the first cell where you want to enter a score and type the first letter (or first couple of letters) of the grading scale level to select it. You can also use arrow keys to move up and down in the dropdown menu.

    • Press Tab to move right, and Shift+Tab to move left.

    • Press Enter/Return to save the score and move down to the next student. Press Shift+Enter/Return to move up.

  • To clear a score, open the dropdown menu and deselect the existing score.

Option 2: Individual Student Grading

  • Select any student from the whole-class grading page to see their assessment in greater detail.

  • Select a score for each of the descriptors

  • To clear a score, simply re-select the score on the descriptor.

💡 Tip: You can leave feedback for students on an individual descriptor (1) or on the assessment as a whole (2).
