In the 3rd Party tab of the Analytics module, you are able to add Physical Fitness Testing (PFT) data.

Article Table of Contents:

Adding the PFT Tile to 3rd Party Analytics

If this is your first time accessing the PFT, you will need to add the Physical Fitness Test tile. Follow these directions below:

  • Step 1: Select Analytics

  • Step 2: Select the + Add New tile

  • Step 3: If you are a teacher of a Physical Education class or an administrator, you will be able to select Physical Fitness Test.

  • Step 4: Select Add Tool

❗ Note - if you do not see the option to add the Physical Fitness test, that means you are neither a teacher of a Physical Education class or an administrator.

Navigating the Physical Fitness Test

  • Step 1: Select Analytics.

    • Note that the Analytics module is the second module for administrators.

  • Step 2: Select the Physical Fitness Test tile.

    • A new tab will open in your browser.

      • ❗ Note: If you leave the 3rd Party page in Otus, the PFT tab will close.

❗ Seeing an "Unauthorized" page? There could be a few reasons for that:

  • You do not have a class with a subject of "Physical Education". Make sure to add the subject of "Physical Education" to your class(es).

  • Your classes do not have a specified grade level. Add a grade level to your class(es).

  • Your classes have the same name(s). Change the name of your class(es) so that they are unique.

Addressing the above three issues should give you access to the PFT page.

Navigation Menu

  • Entry: Where the data is entered.

  • Participation: Where you can easily see the levels of performance of each student for each category.

  • State Extract (only available in the main admin account): Where you can download a .txt file of the data.

For Admin: In order to see data, you must begin typing in the name of a Physical Education teacher into the search field. Select their name and choose from their Physical Education classes in the dropdown menu that appears to the right. See below:

In this tab, student data can be entered for the various categories:

✅ Note: In each category, you are able to filter your view to see all students, only students that do not have data (incomplete), or only students that do have data (complete). You can also search for a specific student. See below:

❗ A category is considered complete for a student when at least one full exercise has been entered for that category.

Height/Weight (and start date)

  • Start date (of the physical fitness test)

  • Height (feet/inches)

  • Weight (pounds)

Body Composition

  • Tricep skinfold (mm)

  • Calf skinfold (mm)

  • Bioelectric (percentage)

Aerobic Capacity

  • One mile run (minutes and seconds)

  • 20m PACER (laps)

  • Walk Test (minutes and seconds, includes bpm)

Abdominal/Trunk Strength

  • Abdominal (number of curl-ups)

  • Trunk Extensor (number of inches)

Upper Body Strength

  • Push-Up (number of)

  • Modified Pull-Up (number of)

  • Flexed-Arm Hang (seconds)

  • Back-Saver Sit and Reach (number of inches left and right)

  • Shoulder Stretch (Yes/No for left and right)

Completion Status

Since some of the categories have multiple exercises, this table will display the "best" score for each of the categories.

➡️ For example, Aerobic Capacity has the One-Mile Run, the PACER, and the Walk Test. If the PACER test is displayed here, that would indicate the student's best score in the Aerobic Capacity category was for the PACER test.

💡 Tip from the Otus Team: To learn more about how the scores are calculated for each exercise, check out this resource.

Student Exemptions

This is where you can enter exemptions for students on particular exercises.

  • Select from the dropdown menu to choose which exercise(s) the exemption applies to.

  • You can add text in the brief rationale/notes section (optional).

Teacher View:

  • The participation tab will show the participation and performance of all students in all classes.

Admin View:

  • The participation tab will show the participation and performance of all students, of which you can filter by site, grade level, teacher, and classes

State Extract

This is where you can download a .txt file of the results of the PFT.

❗ This option is only available while logged into the main admin account.
