Do you want to include videos in your advanced assessment? You've come to the right place!

Requirements:

  • Acceptable file types: YouTube, Vimeo, Brightcove (method 2 only), mp4

  • Maximum file size for an mp4: 100mb

There are two methods for adding a video into an Advanced Assessment:

  • Method 1: Using the Simple Feature: this allows you to add a video directly into the content of a question so that it appears along with the question. These are added using the Rich Text Toolbar, so they can appear in any question type.

  • Method 2: Using the Video Player Feature: this will embed the video into the item as a stand-alone video, not necessarily embedded into a specific question.

Method 1: Using the Simple Feature

This allows you to embed a video directly into the content of a question so that it appears along with the question. These are added using the Rich Text Toolbar, so they can appear in any question type.

Step 1: While composing the question, select the Simple Feature icon.

Step 2: Choose the video type.

Step 3.1: If using YouTube or Vimeo, copy and paste the URL into the Source URL field.

Step 3.2: If using your own video file from your device (must be an mp4), select Hosted Video.

  • From here, you can choose to upload an existing video, or record a new video directly in Otus.

    • Poster Image: The poster image is what will be displayed before the video is played. It is only available when adding your own hosted video, not for YouTube or Vimeo links.

  • To upload an existing video, select Upload Video. Then select the gray + button, choose the audio file, and select OK. It may take a few moments to load.

  • To record a new video, select Record Video. Follow the prompts on the screen to record your video. The maximum length of a recorded video is 10 minutes.

Step 4: Select OK to save the video.

Step 5: Continue adding content to the question you are building. The video will appear as a component in the question (the video will appear in full when you save the question).

Method 2: Using the Video Player Feature

This method has it's own article; click the button below for more information.
