What Can a Teacher do on the Mobile App?

  • View the notification feed on the home page.
  • View class board posts.
  • View completion status of assessments (not started/graded).
  • Assign, view, and edit recognitions.
  • View individual students' overall grade and assessment scores.
  • View individual students' standards performance.
  • Email a student.

Logging In

Login to the Otus app the same way you would on your computer. If you usually use Google SSO on your computer, you should login to the app using Google SSO as well.

Notification Feed (Home Page)

The home page for the mobile app is the notification feed. This will mirror your notification feed that you see on your computer. 

Assessment Notifications

Selecting an assessment notification takes you to a list of students that have not started, are in progress, have turned in the assessment, or have been graded.

Class Board Notifications

Selecting a class board notification takes you to the post.

Recognition Notifications

Selecting a recognition notification will show you the student's individual recognition data.

Lesson Notifications

The lesson notification will show you who has completed the lesson. Coming soon - selecting a lesson notification will take you to the overall student progress page (stay tuned!).

Assign, View, and Edit Recognitions

The mobile app allows teachers to assign, view, and edit recognitions.

To Assign Recognitions

  • Step 1: Navigate to Classes (at the bottom) and select the class.
  • Step 2: Select the student and select Assign Recognitions.
  • Step 3: Select the desired recognition and select Next.
  • Step 4: Leave an optional comment, select a date (default is set to current date), and select Done.

To View and/or Edit Recognitions

Teachers can view all recognitions assigned to a student, as well as edit any recognitions they've assigned.

  • Follow Steps 1 and 2 from above, but click on View Performance in Step 2 instead of Assign Recognitions.
  • Step 3: Expand the Recognitions menu and select the desired recognition.
  • Step 4: Select the desired recognition.
  • Step 5: Select the ellipsis to the right of the recognition and select Edit or Delete.

View Student Grades 

Overall Percentage & Individual Assessment Scores

Teachers can view a student's overall grade, as well as their scores on assessments.

  • Step 1: Navigate to Classes (at the bottom) and select the class.
  • Step 2: Select the student and select View Performance. You will see their overall percentage on this page.
  • Step 3: To see the individual assessment scores, expand the Assessments menu.
  • Step 4: To see a breakdown of the standards on that assessment, select assessment

Performance on Standards

Teachers can view a student's performance for the standards they've been assessed on.

  • Follow Steps 1 and 2 from above.
  • Step 3: Expand the Standards menu. 
  • Step 4: To see a breakdown, select the standard. This will show you what assessments that standard has been on.

Email a Student

You can email a student by following these steps:

  • Step 1: Navigate to Classes (at the bottom) and select the class.
  • Step 2: Select the student and select View Performance. You will see their overall percentage on this page.
  • Step 3: Click on their email address just under their name. It will bring up your email app.

Settings

In Settings, you can:

Change the mastery setting you are viewing.

  • Select Settings from the bottom of the screen.
  • Select Mastery Settings.
  • Select the desired mastery setting, then select Done in the upper-right corner.

Change the grading period you are viewing.

  • Select Settings from the bottom of the screen.
  • Select your school.
  • Select the desired grading period and then Done in the upper-right corner.

Log Out

  • Select Settings from the bottom fo the screen.
  • Select Log Out.
