In a Plan, scales can be used to select the overall plan status, and also for any individual item statuses. These scales are drawn from the Grading Scales section in the Main Admin account for each district.

There are six default grading scales already built into your Main Admin account:

  1. A, B, C, D, F

  2. Always, Usually, Sometimes, Rarely, Never

  3. Exceeds, Meets, Approaching, Not at Standard

  4. Mastery, Near Mastery, Approaching Mastery, Not at Mastery

  5. Yes, No

  6. Points

Additional custom scales can be created specifically for tracking data in Plans. See the instructions below to learn how to create a new scale.

Build the Scale

Grading scales are created in the Control Center of the main admin account. Once you are in the Control Center, select Create Scale.

  • Step 1: Give your grading scale a name.

💡 Tip: If the scale is specifically for Plans, consider adding "Plans" at the beginning of the name to distinguish it from other grading scales (Ex. Plans - Eligibility).

  • Step 2: Determine the levels of the scale and label them.

  • Step 3: Include optional descriptions with each level.

  • Step 4: To add more levels, select the Add Label button.

  • Step 5: Choose what colors you would like to represent the levels. If you don't choose colors, the default colors will remain.

  • Step 6: When you are finished, select Save & Exit.

Settings

If the scale is only being used for Plans:

Leave all default settings in place. The settings should be as follows:

  • Visible To: All Grades

  • Creating Assessments: Off

  • Viewing Data: Off

  • No Term Conversion

  • No Total Grade Conversion

If the scale is being used both for Plans and for assessment data:

Follow the guidelines outlined in our Grading Scales article.

Add the Scale to a Plan Template

After the scale has been created, it will be available as an option to choose for any Status field in your plan template. Learn more about creating a Plan template.

  • Click the Select Scale box to access a list of grading scales, and select the appropriate scale.
