Do you need to use screenshots or images in your advanced assessment? You've come to the right place!

Requirements:

  • Acceptable file types are jpeg, png, gif, and svg.

  • Image file size must be less than 500kb.

  • Recommended maximum width of the image is about 700px. If the image exceeds the width of the content container, it will be automatically scaled down to fit.

Adding to the Content of the Question

You can add images to the content of any question type; look for this icon in the Rich Text Toolbar:

  • Step 1: While building any question, select the image icon as shown above.

  • Step 2: Select the gray + icon and choose the image file from your device.

  • Step 3: Adjust any of the settings, then select OK (you can adjust the size manually while editing the content of the question, too).

  • Step 4: Adjust the size, if needed, by selecting the image and dragging the corners in or out. You can also continue to add content and other images to the same question.

Using an Image as an Answer Option

  • You can use images in the answer options for multiple choice, matching, classification, and many other types of questions. Just look for that image icon when you are adding answer choices!

There are many other ways to use images in Advanced Assessments. Check out the links below for more information!

💡Tip: be careful of white space around images that you are uploading to Items or Questions. White space can affect the way the Item or Question behaves and appears on screen.

  • In the image above on the left, additional white space has been added on top and below the number line. Excess whitespace can cause additional and unnecessary scrolling for students, and this can make it difficult for students to answer questions - particularly if they are using drag and drop functionality on tablet devices.

  • Equally, too little white space can cause problems for the authors creating the question. In the image above to the right, the author does not have enough white space above the number line to place the response boxes appropriately on the image.
